One of the oldest houses in a quiet residential area in the heart of the city, Kailrugji was built by Shrimati Kailash Kanwar (Kail) at a time when her husband was away fighting the 1965 Khemkaran sector war.
While Kail was receiving kudos for the house she was building with her younger son Narendra, at that time 13 years old, to help: Brigadier Raghubir Singh MVC (Rugji) was involved in one of the fiercest fights of the war in a village called “Asal Uttar” in Punjab. Rugji was awarded the very first Mahaveer Chakra of the Jaipur State and the title Saviour of Punjab in his role in this battle. Till Kail was alive, the house resounded with happy sounds of family get-togethers and children running around. The mouth watering smell of her cooking used to float through the house bringing people to the kitchen. Her children and grandchildren, in an attempt to keep the Kail and Rugji spirit of hospitality alive, have converted their home into a hotel Every room has a story to tell and a past that can be felt.
Now Kailrugji is a 25 room Boutique Hotel run by Chhavi Rajawat , grand daughter of Kail Rugji and Sarpanch of Village Soda. Its rooms offers all necessary amenities namely; LCD screen, attached bathroom, 24X7 Hot- Cold water, Refrigerator, Café & a Multicuisine roof top restaurant.
Kailrugji and MOS are not just a business but a social initiative that aims at development of Village Soda and eventually its rural neighbors. Profits generated from Kailrugji and Mos would go a long way to support initiatives, which would empower rural citizens.
